2019 News

FINAL Report for 2019.  This year we had 555 visits to the food pantry to give 1524 people from 147 different households a week's worth of groceries, including fresh vegetables and personal care items.   Food and personal care product donations from our church partners, the business community, community groups and individuals totaled over 29,884 pounds.

 The Food Pantry Strategy Team has met numerous times this year with the CORA food pantry director and employees regarding a merger of Take and Eat with CORA.   In August the CORA Board of Directors approved the merger to take place at the end of 2019. The last date of food distribution at Evergreen UMC will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 6:30-7:30pm. After that date all Take and Eat Food Pantry clients will be welcomed at CORA food pantry in Pittsboro.

Thank you to Boone Brands of Sanford for the donation of 30 cases of Brunswick Stew for our food pantry in May. Thank you also to Chatham Community Church for facilitating the donation.

2018 News

During 2018 we had 742 visits to the food pantry to give 2140 people from 146 different households a week's worth of groceries, including fresh vegetables and personal care items.   Food and personal care product donations from our church partners, the business community, community groups and individuals totaled over 32, 325 pounds. We could not have done it without your help.


Thank you to Scout Pack 951 for collecting 776 pounds of food at their food drive on November 4th!

Thank you to The Carolina Club and all who came out and supported the Pasta With Purpose fundraiser. It was a huge success!

In January, 2018 Chatham Community Church provided us with 6,670 pounds of food that they gathered during their "Feed the Five Thousand" food drive. The food received stocked our pantry shelves well into the spring. Thank you so much for your support!

2017 Stats
We had 718 visits to the food pantry to give 1891 people in those households a week's worth of groceries, including fresh vegetables and toiletries.
We also had 22,900 pounds of food donated to us!

Farmer Foodshare

We have been in partnership with Farmer Foodshare (FF) since 2009 and receive donations from the Fearrington Farmers Market from April through November. A primary goal of the pantry is to increase the amount of fresh produce available to the clients so this relationship has helped immensely.
